Website Changes?

During the February meeting the current website and its maintenance came up and the club discussed the possibility of changing our web providing service.  The current cost for the website is about $95 a year, with our contract coming up in June.  The club will also have to purchase some software in order to maintain the current website, at a cost anywhere from $99 to $295.  Member Chris Parks has a friend who will design the club a new website for approximately $400, then charge approximately $50 a year to host it.  Parks also feels with the experience gained from the U of O club that sponsors would be a possibility to offset the cost of the website.  Go to http://oregonbassteam.com/ to check out their website, and don’t forget to check out the photo page.

Club Dues and Tournament Fees

The club was advised that our current account is becoming low on funds.  Ideas for raising money were bounced around and club dues and tournament fee increases were discussed.  The proposal of raising the club dues to reflect other local clubs was discussed, as well as raising the tournament fees from $5 to $10, with further discussion postponed until the next meeting.

Non Boater Fees

On the topic of fees, the non-boater fees were also discussed, as some members want them lowered to reflect the drop in gas prices.  If you remember fees were increased due to the sharp rise in gas prices, and some members wanted them to drop as prices have fallen back down.  That matter will also be discussed further at the next meeting.

25 Year Recreational Angling Enhancement Plan

Member Chris Vest gave a talk on his attendance at ODFW’s 25 year recreational angling enhancement plan meetings.  He expressed concern that Oregon’s warmwater anglers need to put some effort into either attending the meetings or getting involved in some other way to ensure that our voice is not lost or ignored in Oregon’s future fishery management plans.  Please get in contact with our club or with Chris Vest if you have some time available or ideas regarding representing warmwater fishing in Oregon.  Thanks to Chris Vest and other members of EBC and numerous additional Oregon bass club members for taking time to attend the meetings and protect our future warmwater fishing endeavors.

Another EBC Open Tournament Entertained…

While discussing our finances the prospect of hosting another open tournament came up, and Fern Ridge received a big endorsement as the location for holding an additional annual club open tournament sometime in the spring.  While we would like to begin this year it may already be too late.  1st Annual EBC Fern Ridge Open - 2009, 2010, or not at all???  That matter will also be discussed during the next meeting.

EBC Tournament Schedule Change

Well not really a change.  It was pointed out that the schedule in last months newsletter was incorrect in that on October 17th the two day tournament will be held at Scappoose on the first day and Willamette Park on the second day.

We hope to see you at the next meeting on March 4th!
